CONCRETE SLAB
Putting a modular cabin on a cement slab is a common practice since this type of permanent foundation is quite affordable and fast to build.
Concrete Slab Foundations
Concrete slabs are a commonly used foundation option for cabins, particularly on flat sites with suitable soil conditions. A slab provides a continuous, solid base and may be preferred in situations where local council requirements, building classification, or site constraints call for a permanent footing solution.
A concrete slab can offer a stable platform for cabins where; the site is level and easily accessible, ground conditions are well understood and suitable for slab construction, a permanent installation is intended. However, concrete slabs typically require more extensive site preparation, including excavation, formwork, reinforcement, and curing time. This can increase both cost and lead time and may involve greater ground disturbance compared with alternative footing solutions.
Concrete slabs also offer less flexibility once installed, particularly on sloping sites or where future relocation of the cabin may be desired.
As with all foundation options, slab design and construction must be assessed and certified by a qualified engineer or building professional based on soil conditions, load requirements, and local council or certifier regulations. Slabs and site works are not supplied by us, however we can provide cabin specifications and load information to assist your engineer or certifier.
